Jul 21, 2020 The Battle.net launcher says I’m up to date. I’ve restarted my computer already, as well as made sure to fully close the launcher before attempting again. Logging in drops into a list of incompatible servers. Forcing it to check for an update once again says “You’re up to date!” I don’t know what to do. The Battle.net launcher has been updated with a brand new look for those using Beta mode. It features a new layout, with most of the same integrated shop and services, links to Blizzard Gear, BlizzCon, the forums, Esports links, and the like.

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Blizzard Announces New Update For Battle.net. Blizzard is working on a new version of Battle.net app. Beginning with January 14, fresh launcher features can be tested by North American users as part of beta testing.
Original story (published on November 15, 2021) follows:
World of Warcraft, often called WoW, is an MMORPG game that was released back in 2004 and has been dominating the niche ever since. Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, it is one of the most popular video games of all time.
Despite being 17 years old, the game is often updated with new content and expansion packs, with the latest one called Shadowlands released in 2020. The frequent updates cause bugs and issues that range from mildly infuriating to some making it totally unplayable.
Unfortunately, another issue has surfaced that has made it almost impossible for WoW players to enjoy the game. According to recent user reports, Battle.net launcher on Mac is constantly updating WoW with players stuck in an unending update loop.
Players also report getting a “Please try again after logging on as an administrator” error whenever they try to update the game. Generic solutions such as reinstalling the app, running the game and launcher as administrator, and restarting the PC do not seem to fix the issue.
The issue seems to be widespread with various versions of macOS affected. Many are frustrated since they are unable to play the game at all.
Since this morning the Battle.net App won’t stop looping updates for my games. If I wait for it to finish, close the App, then restart it, the update loop begins again. If I play a game for awhile then exit the update loop begins again. I’ve checked the game’s versions and the Battle.net App continues to try and ‘update’ my games with the same version. I know this is not on my end and is on yours, Blizzard, I just thought I would let you know this needs to be fixed.

Same issue is happening for me except the problem is happening for retail, I also tried going into Classic and Classic TBC with the same issue. They all want me to update from the Battle.net launcher and then it tells me “Please try again after logging on as an administrator.” after putting in the administrator password and being logged on as the administrator. Not sure if it matters but I’m playing on a Mac running Big Sur, the error code is BLZBNTAGT00000841

Blizzard also shared a workaround that is reportedly fixing the issue for some of those affected by the WoW update loop on Mac.
Thankfully, the developers have acknowledged the issue and said they are working on a fix, which will be released in an upcoming update. However, there is no ETA on when the update will be available.
How To Update Battle Net Launcher
Hey there! This should only happen when the app first starts up. Though it’s a bug in either case. This cropped up with the last update to the app and should be resolved in an upcoming update. Though I don’t have an ETA for when the fix will be pushed live. I went ahead and split this off form the previous topic since it was 1 year old and a different issue. Once the fix is live I’ll be sure to update this thread! Cheers!
